Formidable Vent Pipe Requirements
First consider the ambient temperature of the air around the vent pipe.
Vent pipe requirements. At 900 CFM the minimum duct size is 8. Ambient Temperature Two ambients must be considered. Vent terminations near any air intakes on a roof must be a minimum of 3 feet above the intake opening or at least 10 feet away.
Vents exceeding 40 feet 12 192 mm in developed length shall be increased by one nominal pipe size for the entire developed length of the vent pipe. Thats why most diagrams depict them running vertically making sure that no water can back up into the system. Flagpoling of vents shall be prohibited except where the roof is used for assembly purposes or parking.
Vent pipes should extend to outdoors above the building roof and should terminate vertically not less than 6 above the roof surface nor more than 24 and must be at least 12 from any vertical surface such as a nearby sidewall. 1 avoid an excessive number of turns and bends Figure 5 and 2 maximize rise. Pipe cement and primer must conform to ASTM standards D2564 or D2235.
The higher the cubic feet per minute the larger the duct youll need. If a plumbing fixture is located too far from the main building vent stack then its own drain pipe must have its own vent stack connection piping. Vent pipes shall be extended separately or combined of full required size not less than 6 inches 152 mm above the roof or fire wall.
UPC i 9061 and 9062. The 3-2-10 rule ensures code compliance and proper venting. At 600 CFM the minimum duct size is 6.
Traditional gas-fired forced-air furnaces produce hot combustion exhaust gasses and therefore need metal vent pipes or chimneys. The usual slope on the fixture drain piping is 14 of slope per 12 foot of horizontal distance or run of piping. Vent pipes must be installed so they stay dry.
